Only about 10% of the electricity that incandescent lights consume results in light—the rest is turned into heat. Turning the light(s) off will keep a room cooler, an extra benefit in the summer. Therefore, the value of the energy saved by not having the lights on will be far greater than the cost of having to replace the bulb (US Department of Energy)
How Light Affects Our Sleep:
The National Sleep Foundation recently found that just 25 percent of Americans get at least eight hours of rest on weekdays and that 60 percent of women say they often sleep poorly.
An hour before bed, dim the lights and turn off the TV and computer, then make your bedroom as dark as possible to sleep better.
Fact:
Did you know if you follow this you and your family of four could have a breakfast for 30 straight days in a restaurant, good and quality time with family.
Food wastage:
Jonathan Bloom author of “American Wasteland” and an inspiring activist in his books said “Every day, America wastes enough food to fill the Rose Bowl”. Yes the 90,000 seat football stadium in California.
Food was not something to be wasted; certainly some food is unavoidable like harsh weather, diseases and insect invading farmer’s field.
There is a joy in sharing not in wasting; now it’s your turn.

On average, households waste 14 percent of their food purchase. Fifteen per cent of that includes products still within their expiration date but never opened.
Mr. Timothy Jones, an anthropologist has spent the last 10 years measuring food loss.
Mr. Jones estimates an average family of four currently tosses out $590 per year, just in meat, fruits, vegetables and grain products.
